Sarah Murdoch

Sarah Murdoch grew up on the northern beaches of Sydney before going on to become one of Australia’s most successful international models. Her success has included major contracts with L’Oreal, Revlon, Estee Lauder and Ralph Lauren, major campaigns with Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent as well as joining the prestigious Revlon family as a global face alongside Cindy Crawford, Salma Hayek, Shania Twain, and Halle Berry.

Sarah also became a favourite of American talk television with appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, MTV, VH1 and E Entertainment. She also appeared in the Sports Illustrated Annual Swimsuit Issue, and graced the cover of both the US collectors and Australian editions. Sarah starred in the 2001 release of Universal’s Head Over Heels alongside Freddie Prinze Jr. and Monica Potter.

In 2001 Sarah launched a multi year deal with the Australian icon Bonds, developing an enormously profitable womens line, appearing in all major advertising campaigns, and continues to be a key part of the brands ongoing success.
 
While living in New York she undertook a double major in History & Literature at New York University.

In 1997 Sarah began working with National Breast Cancer Foundation of Australia and became Patron in 2001. Since 2000 Sarah has been Ambassador for the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute and a member of its Development Board. In 2004 Sarah was appointed International Ambassador for The Australian Ballet and has been a board director since 2006. In 2003 Sarah was recognised for her work by Research Australia and awarded the Celebrity Advocacy Award.

In the summer of 2007 Sarah was appointed co-host of Channel Nine’s morning news and current affairs program The TODAY Show with Karl Stefanovic and continued hosting over four months.

Her book Birth Skills, co-authored with Juju Sundin, was published by Allen & Unwin in March 2007. Sarah contributed to this book because she felt there is a significant need for more knowledge about labour and birth.

In November, 2008, Sarah signed a multi-year deal with FOXTEL to host and Executive Produce through her production company Room 329 Productions Australia’s Next Top Model. It has become the most successful and highest rating non-sports program for Foxtel. In 2009, Room 329 Productions produced an original production of a series of four 1-hour documentary specials for FOXTEL titled Pride of Australia to highlight our unsung Australian heroes.

In 2009, Sarah was appointed to the Federal Government’s National Body Image Advisory Group to address the growing problem of lack of self-esteem in Australia’s youth.

In 2009, Sarah was awarded the InStyle Magazine Award for Charity/ Community, the Madison Magazine award for Style Icon, and the Cosmopolitan Magazine Award  for Television Personality.

Sarah lives in Sydney, Australia with her husband Lachlan and their children Kalan, Aidan and Aerin.
